collage.pngDabaweGNU, Inc., is a non-stock, non-profit organization registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission on December 5, 2003. Its primary aim is to provide its members a venue for technical growth in "Free/Open Source Software" (FOSS) technologies and to advocate the use of this technology to the rest of the community.

DabaweGNU began from an Internet mailing list that was established after a series of successful seminars which featured one of the most well known FOSS projects: the GNU/Linux operating system. The organization came about from the list members' common desire to have a venue to further enhance knowledge and experiment on FOSS technologies.

Several activities have recently kept some DabaweGNU members. The celebration of Software Freedom Day was a good kick off to DabweGNU's training activities that followed it. Upgraded Website
The recent visit of Sreejith Sankarapillai, an IBM Corporate Service Corps volunteer who worked with some DabaweGNU members and officers, is starting to bear fruit within the organization. One of his recommendations was to improve the organization's website to increase web traffic and allow it to get good media mileage. This will assist the organization in reaching a wider audience and eventually increase its membership and allow the organization to market its services.
