Upgraded Website
The recent visit of Sreejith Sankarapillai, an IBM Corporate Service Corps volunteer who worked with some DabaweGNU members and officers, is starting to bear fruit within the organization. One of his recommendations was to improve the organization's website to increase web traffic and allow it to get good media mileage. This will assist the organization in reaching a wider audience and eventually increase its membership and allow the organization to market its services.
Although it is not that obvious, the website has now been moved and upgraded. The old site was running Plone 2.0 on top of Redhat 9 so an upgrade was badly needed. The new site is now running on Plone 2.5.5 and Centos 5.2.
The look of the site has not been updated yet but plans are on the way to improve the aesthetics of the site. The upcoming look will be aligned with the strategic plans of the organization. This is another idea that the organization learned from IBM CSC volunteers, Raphael Cunha and Selvi R.
The current changes that have been implemented are the following:
Try out the new website by signing up. It is easy to contribute content . You can do so by logging in and adding content to your home folder. If you submit your contributed content for publication, the reviewers will edit and decide to publish your content. If you have difficulty in adding content, please visit the sites below for a short introduction to adding content in Plone.
