DabaweGNU, Inc., is a non-stock, non-profit organization registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission on December 5, 2003. Its primary aim is to provide its members a venue for technical growth in "Free/Open Source Software" (FOSS) technologies and to advocate the use of this technology to the rest of the community.DabaweGNU began from an Internet mailing list that was established after a series of successful seminars which featured one of the most well known FOSS projects: the GNU/Linux operating system. The organization came about from the list members' common desire to have a venue to further enhance knowledge and experiment on FOSS technologies.

This is a very important news and it will surely assist other organizations currently weighing options to upgrade MS Office or to migrate to OpenOffice or other office suites which uses the Open Document Format.
